Glitch - St. Martin's Press |
In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.
When Zoe starts to malfunction (or "glitch"), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.
As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.

Why I'm waiting: Away from fairies and vampires here is science fiction to explore! I'm looking forward to a different angle on a dystopian world, with new technology and super-human abilites thrown in the mix. Also, a telekinetic heroine and a touch of romance? I'd say that sounds like fun. :)

Keeping up with Tod was a lost cause. He didn’t have to edge past row after row of ecstatic fans, or stop and apologize when he stepped on one girl’s foot or spilled her date’s drink. He just walked right through seats and concertgoers alike, as if they didn’t exist in his world. This is book two of the Soul Screamers series, which is a really fun read both in terms of making you laugh and in keeping you interested in the story. The first book is mostly used to to establish the characters, the story universe and its rules - with a puzzle to solve thrown in. The second book continues to build on this foundation and promises an even bigger mystery.
They probably didn’t.

They’d done it before. A lot. Dekker Media was making deals with demons—and letting its teenage stars pay the price.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.

The Immortal Rules - Harlequin Teen |
You will kill. The only question is when.
In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.
Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.
Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.
Synopsis from goodreads.com
Why I’m waiting: Post-apocalyptic vampire novel! And written by Julie Kagawa. I loved the Iron Fey series and admired how old folklore was incorporated and updated in a captivating story. I expect a similarly engaging tale in the author’s entertaining and well-versed style. With real vampires, just as the fey were real ... and improved. I will have to practice being patient and wait for April.
Let us know what you are waiting on this week.
